The Axis Companion line of security cameras was developed by Axis Communication, a leader in the IP Security Camera, to serve the small and medium-sized business market. The Axis Companion line is meant for those IP security camera systems that need 16 or fewer IP security cameras. We have found that, while it is designed for business, it is a great product for residential customers as well.
In this case, the customer only wanted two security cameras, one to cover the front entrance and driveway and one to cover the rear entrance and backyard. They also only wanted 7 to 10 days of recorded video. Although the Axis Companion line does have 4-channel and 8-channel network video recorders 
(NVR) available, the customer only wanted a short amount of saved recorded video so we saved costs by installing Axis micro-SD cards in the IP security cameras themselves. This provided the 7 to 10 day of recording without the need to purchase a NVR. An Axis Companion 4 Port POE switch was used to power the cameras which will allow the customer to add two additional cameras if they desire at a later time.
