This customer had an existing cell phone signal booster system for his boat; however, it was a residential system that was not designed for his situation and did not work correctly. When the customer called us, we did some troubleshooting to determine the issue with the current cell phone signal booster and came up with a solution that did not require the purchase of a mobile cell phone signal booster system.
In this type of cellular system, there must be a minimum separation distance between the interior antenna and the exterior antenna (donor antenna). Since a residential signal booster system had been installed, the separation distance needed was greater than the length of the boat. We developed a barrier that allowed the interior and exterior antenna to be closer than the minimum separation distance required for this system.
While not optimal, this solution allowed the customer to keep the existing system instead of purchasing a whole new mobile system.
