The main portion of the church camp consisted of three structures including an office and two living areas for campers. The structures are over 600 feet apart. The customer wanted security cameras to cover the entrances and portions of the interior such as the cafeteria. They also wanted to have the cameras recorded and viewable in the office. To best accomplish this, an IP security camera system was selected, and an NVR (Network Video Recorder) server was installed in the office. The IP security cameras located at the office structure were connected directly to the NVR which had a built-in POE(Power over Ethernet) switch. In the other two structures, separate POE (Power over Ethernet) switches were installed and the IP security cameras at these structures were tied back to their respective POE switches. All of the cameras were tied to their respective POE switches using Cat 6 network cable.
In order to connect all the security cameras back to the NVR located in the office, separate point to point wireless access points were installed on the roof of each structure. Lastly, we tied the NVR into the camp’s existing data network. This was accomplished with the use of DDNS (Dynamic DNS) service and some port forwarding on the customer’s router. The camp staff could then view all their security cameras remotely using an app on their phones and tablets.
